To improve, in grades 1 - 6, the cumulative class averages on the Stanford Achievement Test in the areas of spelling, vocabulary, and listening to a level consistent with other content areas 1. Grades 4 - 6 will use Hexco software for spelling and vocabulary.


2. Students will utilize Cornerstone software in grades 5 & 6.


3. Teachers will compile a list of websites to reinforce listening, spelling, and vocabulary skills.
4. Teachers will each design a specific listening unit for each grade 1 - 6.


5. Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary Program will be evaluated for use all levels.


6. Copies of the National Spelling Book will be provided each teacher.


7. Students, 1 - 6, will be enrolled in the Reader's Digest Word Power Contest.

To improve, in grades 7 - 12, student test scores on PLAN, PSAT, ACT, and SAT in the areas of writing and vocabulary. 1. Implement Sadiler-Oxford Vocabulary Program for all students.


2. Teachers will regularly require writing assignments and will utilize rubric assessment to identify areas of weakness.


3. In appropriate content areas, evaluations will regularly include essay response items.


4. Study Skills classes will provide specific preparation for the writing portion of applicable tests.
