Springwood School's curriculum is designed for students who can meet the challenge of a college-preparatory program. Therefore, admission is competitive and based upon previous school records, standardized test scores, and compatibility of the student with the expectations of the school. Parents should contact the main office for admission packets. It is recommended that applications be completed at least one year prior to the expected entrance date, especially in K4, K5, and 1st grade. Limited financial assistance is available based upon documented financial need of the family.
Here are some guidelines used in admitting students to our school
Children enrolling in K4 are given a Readiness Assessment test. This test is administered in a one-on-one teacher/student setting.
Children advancing to K5 who did not attend Springwood School for K4 are also given a Readiness Assessment Test.
First grade children who did not attend the K5 program at Springwood are given the Slosson Readiness Test.
Past test scores and transcripts are evaluated before students are accepted in grades 1 through 12.
Transcripts are obtained from the school previously attended.
Not all students are accepted into Springwood. Two examples of students who will not be accepted are:
Those students who are not academically ready as determined by a review of transcripts or by readiness assessments
Those students who have problem areas that our school is not equipped to handle
