WILDCAT WORKDAY 2008 IN PICTURES
Thanks to everyone who supported and participated in Springwood’s third annual Wildcat Workday on Friday, April 18, 2008. The faculty, student, and parent involvement was outstanding. Springwood completed 23 service projects in the community and the response to the morning has been one of gratitude.
A successful Wildcat Workday depends on Springwood volunteers, donations for the picnic lunch, and financial sponsorships. We raised $27,000 for the school. We sincerely thank Springwood families and friends for supporting Wildcat Workday 2008.

SPRINGWOOD ART TAKES AWARDS
by John Kinnaman
The 2007 - 2008 school year has been fabulous for the Springwood Art department. We have participated in four art shows throughout the year. The first show was at the LaGrange Art Museum where we competed against Georgia public and private schools. We had a first place winner in the digital photography category. Taylor Coleman took the honor and a check for $50.
Our second show was at Troy University in Troy Alabama. We competed against both public and private school in Alabama. Parker Huckaby took first in this show in the Mixed Media category.
This past month, we participated in our AISA District Art Show. We submitted more than 40 artworks and received 25 district awards. We also received 8 first place finishes, which went on to the AISA State Art Show. In addition, 9 th grader Eric Jones won a “Best in Show” award for his 3D ceramics piece.
At the state show, we captured seven awards. Eric Jones took first place in 7-9 th grade 3D, Parker Huckaby took first place in 7-9 th grade Mixed Media, Kim Reynolds took second place in 7-9 th grade Commercial Art, Rachel Coleman took second place in 7-9 th grade Collage, Seth Hogan took 3 rd place in 10-12 grade 3D, Calem Bendell took 3 rd place in 7-9 th grade in Drawing – Non Color and Art Wood took 3 rd place in 4-6 th grade 3D. This is the largest state winning from Springwood school in recent years, which can be attributed to the dedication of the students, parents, and staff, as well as the leadership here at Springwood that realizes the importance of Art education. On behalf of Mrs. Hays and Mrs. Horne, I would to thank the students, parents, staff and leadership for their continued support of Art Education.
