Academics

Springwood School is a college preparatory school currently offering college preparatory courses, honors courses and advanced placement courses.

A minimum of twenty-four units earned in grades 9-12 are required for graduation from Springwood School. The units must include the following:

  • 4 English, 1 Computer
  • 4 Social Studies, ½ Art Appreciation
  • 4 Mathematics, ½ Music Appreciation
  • 4 Science, ½ Speech
  • 2 Foreign, Language 2½ Electives
  • 1 Physical Education / Health

Academic Requirements
A student must have passed six units or subjects the previous school year to be eligible for the first semester. Second semester eligibility may be earned and/or retained by passing 2½ new units of credit during the first semester of the same school year.

A student deficient in credits at the end of a school year will be reminded of policy and can become eligible only by earning minimum required credits (including required subjects) through summer school at an acceptable institution.
In order to participate in extracurricular activities after school, a student must be present for at least 3 academic classes during the school day.
